The 2025 European Ploughing Championships is, in fact, two events comprising of the European Reversible Ploughing Championships and the European Vintage Ploughing Championships. Around 60 of Europe's champion ploughmen will taken compete in the event.
Competitors from England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Netherlands, Germany, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Denmark and the Czech Republic will join us at Upper Morton ploughing with various vintage tractors and ploughs or the more modern tractors and reversible ploughs, vying to be the Champion of Europe in their respective discipline. Visitors will also be attending from these countries to support their teams.
Alongside the competitions there will be demonstrations of horse ploughing, traditional high cut vintage ploughing, horticultural ploughing and giant steam ploughing engines, so the changes in our farming heritage can be appreciated. To compliment these there will be a static display of vintage tractors and equipment and a variety of trade stands and shopping stalls, selling anything from a pair of gloves to a tractor!
There will be catering stalls on the site and admission will be £10 per adult, free for all children and free car parking.
The ploughing classes are:
European Reversible Ploughing Championships - reversible ploughs
European Vintage Ploughing Championships - Vintage Trailed, Vintage Mounted, Classic, Classic Reversible and Vintage Reversible.
All competitors will plough both days and their points over the two days will be added up to find the champions in each discipline.
Results will not be announced on the site, but at a Presentation Dinner on the Sunday evening. They will be posted on the internet immediately afterwards.

Ploughing matches are held across the UK and throughout the year. They offer the chance for both novice and experienced ploughmen and women to take part. It's also a fantastic day out for families and people who enjoy the countryside and rural living.
The high point of the British competition ploughing season is the annual British National Ploughing Championships. With classes for conventional, reversible and horse-drawn ploughs as well as vintage tractors and ploughs.
