The Society of Ploughmen has more than 250 local ploughing societies affiliated to it and a membership drawn from not only ploughmen and women from all over the world, but also from individuals who have joined purely out of a love of farming and the countryside. All members receive:
As a registered charity we rely on the support of our members and affiliated societies to help us to achieve our aims, improve and work towards enhancing member services; improve quality at the British Championships and develop our reputation in the farming community. Local ploughing societies may affiliate to the Society of Ploughmen - the affiliation fee is £28 (including VAT) per year.
Affiliated societies may nominate one competitor to plough in the British National Ploughing Championships. Copies of the official ploughing rules and score sheets are available to affiliated societies on request.
Ploughing match dates of all affiliated societies are published free of charge by the Society of Ploughmen in their newsletter which will be sent to the secretary twice a year. Ploughing match dates will also be published free of charge on this website.

Ploughing matches are held across the UK and throughout the year. They offer the chance for both novice and experienced ploughmen and women to take part. It's also a fantastic day out for families and people who enjoy the countryside and rural living.
The high point of the British competition ploughing season is the annual British National Ploughing Championships. With classes for conventional, reversible and horse-drawn ploughs as well as vintage tractors and ploughs.
